Vitamin D In Animals

IMPORTANCE: Generally, with enough sunlight, animals can cover their full needs in vitamin D only by biosynthesis. But sometimes it renders ineffective and variable due to a number of conditions, such as the age of the animal or availability of sunlight.

This is when the supplements are required to suffice for their needs in the body and are generally provided in the form of vitamin premix with the active presence of the functional form of vitamin D, 25-(OH)2-D3 (Calcitriol) and Calcifediol (25-OH-D3), apart from Cholecalciferol (Vitamin D3).

BENEFITS:

  • While Vitamin D in animals has numerous merits, the primary advantage that these animals get is an improved bone strength and density as well as fertility.
  • Supporting normal mineralization of bone, Vitamin D also elevates plasma calcium and phosphorus.
  • Vitamin D, in various forms, has the potential to maximize milk, meat (including breast meat yield in broiler chickens) and egg yield as well as enhance their quality.
